FloreSeremos: Mother Earth Visits the Schools

In Barichara's schools, a tale about a seed became a way to learn with the body, the emotions and the land.

Mother Earth, in a leaf mask and a skirt that is a landscape of forest and river, sitting on a school floor

In 2026, Mother Earth began visiting schools in Barichara. She arrives in a mask of leaves and a huge skirt that, spread across the floor, is a whole landscape: green mountains, a blue river, trees, animals. The children sit around her and listen. This is how FloreSeremos begins, the regenerative education programme of Sueños del Bosque.

A laboratory that began by listening

FloreSeremos was born as a living laboratory. In the first pilot, during the second half of 2025, the team set out above all to listen to the children: what interested them, what they liked and, most of all, how they connected best with the experience. That listening set the path that followed.

Out of it came a story: a little seed that wakes up in the heart of the forest and sets off on a journey to remember the light it carries inside. The tale is inspired by Barichara, its animals and its dry-forest landscapes, and it became the thread that weaves the whole process together. Every session returns to it.

Learning with the whole body

The programme starts from a simple need: to connect learning with the body, the emotions and awareness. In FloreSeremos children play at being a seed, a river, the wind. They learn to listen to themselves, to express themselves and to relate to other beings with care and empathy.

Art, movement and other forms of expression stopped being separate activities and became the path of learning itself. Feel, move, create, experiment, be: that is the journey offered to the children, in four stages that go from the body to the emotions, then to presence and, finally, to concrete acts of care for oneself, for others and for the Earth.

In rural and town schools

FloreSeremos takes place among the mountains of the dry tropical forest, in rural and town schools in Barichara that make room for other ways of learning, such as the Instituto Técnico Aquileo Parra and the Institución Educativa Paramito. The children paint, listen to the tale, lie on the floor around the fabric landscape, hold hands.

What grows here is more than a different kind of lesson. It is the idea that learning also means recognising ourselves, connecting with others and discovering that, through who we are and what we do each day, we can take care of life. For a territory that depends on its forest and its water, that is a seed worth planting early.
